Professionally Cute

I've needed to make this post for a long while now and am just getting to it now. But I feel the need to explain a few things about my decision.

I will not be attending Anime Expo this year.

I'm not sure people will understand but this was a VERY hard chose for me to make.

I haven't gone to AX for a few years now and I miss all my Cali friends. I also miss Cali itself. I love it there. I also miss going to that fabo con. Even with all my misfortunes there I have a super time. But part of what keeps me from going are the horrible misfortunes I have had with that con. Technically they are all personal so I can't blame the con itself...not even about my sun poisoning although they shouldn't have had a ticket line that had people standing outside in the sun with no shade for 7+ hours...but I should have been smarter and just waited till later.

But I'm also not going because of financial reasons. I need to keep up all my hours at work to pay everything off. I have oral surgery I need to go through and still have a few thousand dollars in medical bills that need paying off. And my health hasn't been the greatest either. I have to look at these things first. My adult side is forcing me to re-evaluate my priorities.

It royally bites to put it bluntly.

The HARDEST part about this is that Morning Musume is coming to AX.

Some people may not know this, but I've been following them since 1999 and kept up with so much of their group and Hello!Project it's maddening. I've formed cover groups to perform their songs/dances and have been special guests at a variety of places around town for doing just that. One year my group was even invited to Animazement, but I couldn't afford the travel expenses there. It was a sad moment to say no.

I also auditioned for them. Back with 5th Gen - I had that special form you fill out, did it in Japanese, sent it with pictures and video. I received a postcard back saying I wasn't selected (big surprise) but was told to audition for EGGS and even what song I should sing...I did just that...and didn't make it. So I gave it one more shot with 6th Gen - and made it to the 2nd round. Saw a still from my video online even...#174 or something...ended up with a big red X through it. I'm not surprised considering I don't live in Japan and the next few steps required just that. But I think I did pretty good and am happy I had made it even that far!

After all that if you don't think not going was a difficult decision then I can't explain it any more.

I've been angry at myself, cried a bit, and all that stuff. I'm pretty much over it now.

I'm sorry to everyone who thought I was going. I hope everyone has fun!!!

Hope everyone got what they wanted plus more. Me? I got my first computer art tablet =O I never expected it and am still in shock! Happy Yuki =D

Even though I post a "What did Yukiko Wear" thread after the cons I attend I'm doing that little "Cosplay Year in Review" thing. So this is probably redundant haha Unfortunately I only went to 2 conventions this year and my "costumes" were definitely more Fashion based than anything else. So oh well...Here's to next year!

Before I begin the spammage that is Saboten-Con report and pictures I decided my first set should be MeiMei Embarrassment (because I <3's you!) and because I promised people I would!!! I'm going to be good and put it under an lj cut because when she gets around to it she'll be posting lots of pictures (Right, MeiMei??!!), but since I was the photographer for her photoshoot I get the right to post atleast ONE picture ^^

Well, don't know if I should say "back!" as it was in hometown, but since I wasn't online I guess it works LOL But YES! YEAH! Saboten was all in all FANTASTIC!!! omg, did I just say that about a convention?!? =P Sure thing that I have complaints (when don't I?) but I had a LOT of fun even while I was running around like a mad lady keeping things organized and running.

~12 hours of sleep over 4 days = -_-
~Meals each day? half a sandwich and a small bag of chips (need to find more time to get to the staff lounge ^_~)

~Work calling two days straight even though I told them I was unavailable??? 0_o

Seriously...I don't normally gush (okay, maybe on occassion...) but her costume for Sabo that she is working on...OMG! It brings tears to my eyes *sniff* It's going to be so beautiful! While she was showing me some pieces I told her "awwwww...now I want to make something big and fancy!" I wish I could have made something to go with it, but the character I want to do requires wig-chan and no time for that!

But really...I am so amazed because she's really, really progressed as a seamstress. Let's embarrass her some more! Photo proof here!

Made it through the weekend! YEAH! Worked ALL WEEKEND LONG at the convention. But still had fun =D Bullet list cuz I'm lazy and don't want to write a full report right now. I'll discuss other thing in another post ^^

Sunday no costume. Although I may wear my hair like Usagi from PGSM ^_~ I'm indoors stuck in a room most of that day so I may not see too many people! Scheduled for right before 1 till after the Masq.

Have you ever watched an anime, read a manga, even just went through pics online and this one outfit/costume just makes your mind reach out with grabby hands and go "...yeeeeeeesss..."? And in that instant you know exactly what patterning you want to use and even have most of the fabric details worked out. In like one moment?

Just happened to me yesterday. Again. The sad fact is that when this happens I normally *don't* make the costume. Why? Goooooood question. I will correct that soon!
